After a winter recruitment drive which has seen us discover a left-arm seamer, The Bowler With No Run-Up and a clutch of bats, The Economicals CC’s least favourite team is raring to go for its second year. I guess this means that after 2010′s faltering baby steps we should now consider ourselves boysterous toddlers, throwing toys out of the pram and attempting to become toilet trained.
It’s all looking rather good. We’re now in a round robin (league?) of four teams which will see us play six games, home and away or home and home or away and away as they’re all at the same place, with the Brockwell 49ers, The John Minshull Invitational XI and another lot whose name escapes me. Kent?
We’ll also be seeking revenge against the old heads (hands, knees, arms etc) of The London Erratics plus taking on my dad’s friend’s team in Hertfordshire at their orchard-lined pitch where they NEVER give LBWs. We may also try and bolt another game to this to create what I believe is known as a tour.
So onwards and upwards for 2011. And if anyone needs any reminding of the Fire In Babylon, or Hampstead, bowling we faced. Well, here you are
TTFN Doghouse.
