Cricket lovers the world over rejoiced on Saturday evening when the recently formed Sultans of Swing CC won its first ever cricket game in the glorious sunshine of E17.
The nomadic side, founded earlier this year following a drunken night out in London, defeated seasoned veterans Village CC by 1 wicket to transform their summer and bring joy to thousands (11) men and women (men) across the globe (London, specifically N16).
Full match report, stats, gloating to follow.

That would be globe – even following my heat induced mini-stroke on Sat eve, I can tell that’s not right.

There’s no ‘I’ in ‘Team’. Fortunately, there was a ‘Steve’. Anyone else feeling slightly shamefaced about boisterously cheering the dropped catches and victorious pitch invasion?…Me neither. Bravo The Sultans.

Oh, the joy of the dropped catch. A champagne moment if ever there was one. That and Steve’s 6 to get him to 100 and, er, nothing that a non-ringer managed!
Steve Loonstra, you are my hero.
