It was with trepidation that Sultans of Swing skipper Chris Wilson strapped on a helmet and entered the nets at The Oval to face England bowling legend Devon Malcolm.
Malcolm, known for his pace, if not his accuracy, was promoting the DVD release of Windies film Fire In Babylon and as part of his duties he worked up a head of steam against a handful of journalists. Wilson was among them.

Sadly Devon wouldn’t commit to a Sultans run out later this season, although the oppo shouldn’t rule it out…
Did they dub over some of those willow-on-leather sound FX, like when the radio commentators used to tap their pencil on the table? Excellent line of questioning, too. I think everyone – Paxman, Frost, Philip Schofield – should open with “Can you tell me why you’re sweating so much?” Unplayable.
